a stay filled with history
excellent location excellent decor fine view
the location was a major win, i mean, so close to everything. the room decor really set it apart. the building felt very classic. i appreciated the fine view of the lake from the hotel.
i found getting around a little confusing because of the lift system in the building. it felt a bit old and wasn't the most user-friendly. it's something to know before arriving.

fantastic stay!
excellent location great breakfast friendly staff delicious lunches
the hotel has an excellent location near the gondola and train station i stepped right into the reception area after getting off the train. the breakfast was really great and i enjoyed the delicious lunches. the staff are friendly and really helped me when i had questions
my room felt quite warm during the summer and i wished for better ventilation, especially since the train station nearby makes it difficult to leave the windows open at night

The hotel offers easy access to many scenic journeys including those to bergen flam and oslo. it is overlooking the lake. The location is superb. everything was very walkable and accessible nearby.

I appreciated the hotel's location near both the lake and the main part of town. Walking to either was quite easy. there was sufficient parking available. i booked a room with a lake view which proved wonderful, particularly with arriving by train, it felt seamless moving luggage to reception.
some stairs are unavoidable, which can be cumbersome with luggage.

classical decor nice veranda bag storage
The hotel had classic charm. i enjoyed the decor in the lobby with all the woodwork. the all-weather veranda was nice. I appreciated the tent erected for rainier days. the staff stored my bags while i was out for the day.
the music from the room was easy to hear from the room next door.

The breakfast buffet had many choices with a nice view. The room was a decent size (i wasn't expecting that).
My room felt dated and was to lack decent maintenance. The bathroom was also dated and certainly lacked maintenance.

Outdated Room and Late-Night Noise
The hotel's location was convenient.
The room felt very outdated and stuffy. There was no way to adjust the temperature and the noise from outside kept me awake since a train passes behind the building often
